Feel the fear and just do it anyway !

So ! I've been reading this book called Screw Work Break Free by John Willaims, I discovered it whilst reading a blog post by Kayla Joleen on her top business books for start ups. With my current mind set of literally wanting to "break free" out of my day job and slap bang into my soul mission, I thought; 'THIS book, with THIS title alone, surely must be my saviour? Right?


I was barely an inch in and not even the power of excitement could hold me down! I might even go as far as... 'this book has changed my life'? (And at present I haven't even finished it yet) but honestly, it's changed every bit of my thinking and all the crazy inventions I have come up with, I now actually feel that they are all possible.



So this is the moment Code Lemon was born. I've be procrastinating over it for a while, thinking about it, talking about it but guess what? Doing nothing about it... till now that is.



I already started a small fashion business and through the brand I identified my soul vision was; that i simply wanted to help people who were in a similar boat to me. Like many start ups, they are usually inspired from a place of hard times. For me, I graduated from a Fashion College with no job at the end of it, I had no money and i made the decision to stay in London, so I had to think pretty fast what my next move was before my Dad killed me lol



Feeling frustrated at the time with the lack of support that was available to me, I since wanted to share all the information I had learnt along the way about starting your own business. The do's, The don'ts, Motivational talks, Tips, Tricks and to simply create networking space where like-minded people can come together to share and learn !



I'm on day 4 of my 30 day challenge in the 'Screw a Work, Break Free' book. One of the first things it explains is stop wasting time on the perfect business name, the perfect logo, or the perfect blog post that you have saved in your draft for months and months. It's never going to be perfect on your first go, it's about playing with an idea and using all the cool tools and materials that are available to us at no cost at all.



I may look back at this post and think "What an awful post, what awful writing" but I'm not here to show you all my typing skills, I am simply here because I have an idea and I think there are many people out there with ideas that they are scared to venture into because of the lack of information that they have at hand. It's scary doing something for the first time, we want to give a good impression and the fear of rejection is a massive blow to our ego. My biggest tip is; if something scares you, feel the fear and just do it anyway ! You have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO LOSE !
Salvador Dali say's it best; Have no fear of perfection, you'll never reach it.

So there you have it, my first blog post as Code Lemon x
